JDIT-K TFT displays offer EN50155 compliance

Kaohsiung, Taiwan <14th, July, 2025>. Industrial display manufacturer JDIT-K (JDI Taiwan Kaohsiung) has announced the availability of a range of TFT display modules that provide compliance with EN50155 OT3 standard for use in electronic equipment and systems in rolling stock for railway and mass transit applications.

Railway systems and rolling stock have become increasingly advanced from both a technical and passenger point-of-view, with additional information systems and enhanced safety-critical equipment. Electronic and electrical systems, such as operational dashboards, driver consoles and control system interfaces are now essential requirements.

JDIT-K TFT displays that comply with EN50155 OT3 are listed as below:

The European EN50155:2017 standard is a specialised compliance standard for electronic equipment and systems intended for use in railway applications, which is considered as equivalent to the international standard IEC 60571Product qualification to the EN50155 standard confirms that a device or system meets rigorous requirements to operate safely and reliably under the demanding environmental conditions typically encountered on trains and other rolling stock. These conditions include extreme temperature fluctuations, high humidity levels, mechanical vibration and shock, and electromagnetic compatibility.

Benson Huang, marketing manager JDIT-K said, “JDIT-K EN50155 OT3 compliance displays have been designed and developed to provide robust electrical, mechanical and environmental characteristics that are highly resistant to vibration, shock, electro-static discharge and temperature variation, even exceeding the EN50155 standard test criteria. In addition, JDIT-K has established knowledge and experience supporting and supplying customers with EN50155 compliance display modules in existing railway applications in Europe and Asia. With our products achieving EN50155 compliance, we can guarantee the long-term ruggedness and reliability of display modules for our end customers.”

To achieve EN50155 compliance a TFT display module must incorporate a number of key design and engineering features. These include:

- environmental stability: the display module must operate effectively over an extended temperature range and be resilient to rapid temperature variations as environmental operating conditions can change rapidly.

- mechanical integrity: the display module must be able to withstand constant vibration and occasional shock without any compromise in display performance or integrity.

- ingress protection: display modules are designed with appropriate sealing and protective measures to mitigate exposure to dust, foreign contaminants and moisture.

- electromagnetic compatibility: the display module must be resistant to electromagnetic interference from other electronic devices, pass an EMC test, ensuring safe and consistent operation.

- power supply: the internal electronics of the display module are able to manage minor fluctuations in the power supply to avoid unexpected fault or failure conditions.

With EN50155 compliance, JDIT-K TFT display modules will operate reliably within a demanding railway application environment. This is particularly important given the increasing reliance on digital displays in modern rolling stock. The EN50155 standard provides railway operators with confidence that the display technology integrated into their equipment and systems will perform under rigorous operating conditions while minimising downtime and maintenance costs.
